Narrow escape for driver as tree falls on auto in Indrapuri

A forty-year-old tree got uprooted in the strong wind and fell on a loading auto parked in front of Bank of Baroda in Indrapuri, BHEL area of the State capital on Tuesday night.
The auto got damaged, however, during this time a major accident was averted. The driver was sitting in the auto when the tree fell, but suffered minor injuries on his hand. It was fortunate that the nearby people did not come under the grip of this tree and a major accident was averted. The incident happened on Tuesday night.
Harshit Tiwari, incharge of gardens of Bhopal Municipal Corporation, told ‘The Hitavada’ that a tree was reported to have fallen in Indrapuri. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the BMC employees were immediately sent to the spot. Traffic had to be stopped there for some time. After that the way was cleared.
The place where the tree fell is a crowded area, but fortunately no one was out at the time of the incident.
However, the power lines were also snapped due to the falling of trees, due to which there was a power outage in the area. Here, the power company employees had also started line maintenance work. Power supply was restored till late night.
