Omti police succeeded in trapping illegal transportation of liquor in Audi car and seized 300-quarters of illegal stock of country liquor in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Vivek Gautel (23), a resident of Sethi Nagar in Gorakhpur. Arrested informed he works as driver of Sanjay Khatri and Dilip Khatri, residents of Napier Town area and they assigned him transportation of liquor.
Sanjay Khatri and Dilip Khatri are absconding in the case of illegal recovery of money and threatening a restaurant owner. SP Siddharth Bahuguna has declared cash rewards of Rs 4,000 each for giving information or apprehending these accused.
SHO of Omti police station, Praful Shrivastava informed that at around 3:45 am on Tuesday, police received information about a suspected man who was sight with illegal stock of liquor in a car near rail line under Shastri Bridge. Taking prompt action on the information, police started a search and found an Audi car bearing registration number MP-20CG-0088. Witnessing the police team, driver accelerated the car and escaped from the spot.
Police started chasing the car and managed to stop it near bridge number-3. In the search, police found six crates carrying 300 quarters illegal stock of country-made liquor. In the questioning, arrested Vivek Gautel informed that he is driver of Sanjay Khatri and Dilip Khatri, residents of Napier Town in Omti and transporting the liquor stock under their directions.
Omti police have registered a case under Section 34(2) of Excise Act and Section 120 of IPC and started further investigation into the case. The liquor consignment was seized with active working of police team comprised of Sub Inspector, Vipin Tiwari, Constables, Pramod Soni, Ajit and Vikram.
