Ujjain’s world famous Mahakal temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas has always been in the centre of political and religious circles of the State. From this holy month of Sawan, pilgrims will have expanded temple complex and many more amenities. Work on various developmental projects and cleanness special drive has been over. Developmental was started last year as a part of the Mahakal Vikas Yojana of the Government. Under this, construction of new foot bridge, expansion of temple area, hassle-free entry, stay and exit of visitors etc. were taken up in the first phase. Ujjain Collector Ashish Singh, talking to ‘The Hitavada’, over phone said, that the project is adding modern tourism amenities to the religious itinerary of the visitors seeking the divine blessing at the Mahakal doorsteps without maintain heritage value intact. In the first phase of the project, nearly Rs 350 crore has been spent, according to the official. The total cost of the project is worth Rs 750 crore.
Whether it is Narmada-Kshipra River Linking Project, a flagship project launched by BJP Government before Simhast or removal of the then Ujjain Collector on account of mismanagement during Amavasia holy dip event at river Kshirpa. Both the matter were being seen as a majorly political rather than religious by the opposition. Ujjain Collector Ashish Singh, who has been awarded by the Central Government among the top ten bureaucrats of the country and credit to make Indore ‘Cleanest City’ of the country goes to his account. During his tenure , the project has been initiated and first phase got completed. In addition to augmentation of facilities. Cleanness has also been taken as core activity in the project. Rudrasagar lake, which is spread over 20 hectares, has been made sewage-free. And filled with clean water from the Kshipra river. Work on foot over bridge is completed. This bridge will lead to the Nagchandreshwar temple. Foot over bridge will be readied till Nagpanchami on August 2. This will lead to the Nagchandreshwar temple, situated on the third story, opens once in a year for a day on Nagpanchami. Renowned personality from all around the country whoever visited to the State hardly miss to bow before the almighty. Industrialist Anil Ambani use to drove his car himself to visit this temple. Parking, accommodation, entry and exit towards near by Harsidhi temple has also been made hassle-free under the project.
On Monday, Divisional Commissioner with other high level officials inspected the temple site and expressed
satisfaction over the on going projects. Like every year, in this month four processions of Mahakal Shai Sawari will take place on July 18.
