Sleuths of Lokayukta police Jabalpur trapped a project officer of PIU, Public Works Department while taking bribe of Rs. 30,000 for returning FDR of a private contractor in Seoni, on Friday. The accused has been identified as Anand Golhani, officiating Project officer, PIU Public Works Department, Seoni.
According to Lokayukta police, a man named Santosh Singh, a resident of Banki village in Bandol lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta Superintendent of Police, Jabalpur that he completed a private contract of 20 Barracks construction at Sub Jail Lakhnadaun. He completed the project and submitted an application for payment of remaining bill and FDR from Public Works Department. Even after several times contacting the concerned officers, his bill amount and FDR could not be released. He connected the officiating project officer Anand Golhani for releasing his payment and FDR when he demanded bribe for releasing his payment and FDR.
Taking action on information, Lokayukta SP constituted a team for secret investigation into the case. Once the complaint was confirmed, the appellant was fielded and the corrupt officer of Government Department was trapped while taking bribe of Rs. 30,000.
The officer was trapped with active working of team led by DSP, Dilip Jharbade comprised of Inspectors, Swapnil Dar, Manju Tirkey and others.
