CITY’S international paddler Jennifer Varghese stamped her authority in Nanded as she clinched the Dr Shankarrao Chavan Memorial 1st Maharashtra State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament organised by Nanded District Table Tennis Association under the aegis of Maharashtra State Table Tennis Association at Guru Govind Singh Stadium in Nanded. In the final, Jennifer stunned Nasik’s top seed Taneesha Koteecha 4-1 to wrest the title. Jennifer, who is coached by Ujjwal Wani, lost the first game 6-11, but she used all her experience to bounce back in the match and won four straight games to win the trophy. She took the remaining four games 11-7, 12-10, 11-5, 11-9. Earlier in the semis, third seed Jennifer defeated second seed Pritha Vartikar of Pune 6-11, 4-11, 11-7, 11-6, 13-11, 6-11, 11-8. In quarters, she beat Shubha Bhat of Thane 9-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-4, 11-9.
