Vaibhav Raut, city’s talented chess player performed well and made the Nagpur and country proud by winning silver medal at the Paracin Blitz tournament in Serbia. Vaibhav garnered 9.5 points out of 11 rounds and remained unbeaten in the competition. Vaibhav, who was seeded 16th, finished second on to better Buchholz. Vaibhav received 9000 Serbian dinar for his excellent show in the competition.

 

Vaibhav gained 59 Blitz ELO rating points in single tournament. He won the last round against top seeded of the tournament Grandmaster Pikula Dejan of Serbia. Vaibhav also registered victories over International Master Pranav V of India who eventually won the title. Out of 11 rounds, Vaibhav recorded eight wins and three draws. Total 109 players participated for 17 countries in the tournament. Vaibhav has in the recent past played well at the Czech Republic competition and at Belgrade in Serbia and Prague. He has won a gold medal at the International Chess Festival Blitz Tournament 2022 held at Czech Republic.
