After registering huge win in the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) elections, senior leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are now burning night oil to ensure strong representation of the party in JMC House. Although the BJP has lost Mayoral election and Congress’ Jagat Bhadur Singh ‘Annu’ has become the city’s new Mayor, the BJP has registered win in 44 wards out of total 79 wards of the city.
Having maximum number of members in the House, it is sure that the next Chairman will be from BJP. Likewise, the BJP would have to elect a strong and experienced Leader of Opposition who can handle the ruling Congress party ably and maintain party’s dominance in the House.
As per party insiders, senior leaders have started discussion on possible names. The name which is on top of the list for Leader of Opposition is former Mayor-in-Council member, Kamlesh Agrawal, who has recently won the election for the post of Corporator for the fourth consecutive time. As Agrawal has long experience of House’s proceedings, party would prefer to appoint him as Leader of Opposition.
Likewise, if BJP wants to continue its decision of making a woman the Chairperson of JMC, it may go for former Corporator Loveleen Anand, who has recently won the election from ward no. 33. The name of Archana Sisodia has also been discussed for the post. Sisodia won the election from Dada Thanthanpal ward. Likewise, Rinku Vij, Mahesh Rajput and other names are also in discussion for the post.
Party sources said the names for both the coveted post would be finalized within few days.
