Expressing its view on the four new labour codes, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh recently said that it is against two bills calling them ‘anti labour’.

Addressing a press conference here in the city recently, BMS All India General Secretary Binay Kumar Sinha welcomed the wage and security codes and said that they will benefit the workers and employers. “However, some provisions in the industrial relations code and the occupational safety, health and working conditions code are not in the interest of workers,” he added.

Sinha was in the city to take part in the BMS training programme held between July 13 and 17. More than 120 office-bearers of 32 units of BMS took part in the event. On industrial relations code, Sinha said it will finish off trade unions in the country. “We want the Union Government to make necessary changes in the two codes. Apart from this, we also are not in favour of privatization, corporatization and monetization. The Government should look at other options like co-operatives and take stakeholders into confidence,” he said.

BMS has urged the Government to start a pension scheme under the Employee Pension Scheme (EPS) for those ‘bidi workers’ who have completed 10 years service .

On the occasion, Sinha also expressed dissatisfaction over the Government’s plan to ban ‘bidi’ to avoid cancer.

BMS has already declared that it will hold a massive protest in Delhi on November 17 to highlight its various demands.
