Crime Branch sleuths, police arrest murder accused absconding for 15 yrs

Crime Branch and Kotwali police have succeeded in apprehending the accused of murder of his wife when he got absconding since 15-years after being released on parole from jail. The arrested has been identified as Vinod Vrandavan Kanogia (48), a resident of Cherital Punjab Bank Colony, Kotwali.
SHO of Kotwali police station, Anil Gupta informed that a prisoner named Vinod Vrandavan Kanogia, was sentenced 10-years imprisonment for murder of his wife under Sections 302 and 201 of IPC, on September 29, 2006. Thereafter, the prisoner was released on parole on the guarantee of Komulal but he could not surrender himself after the ending of parole and was absconding since 15-years. Even after conducting a rigorous search, police failed in apprehending the absconding prisoner. Police had registered a case under Section 299 of CrPC and presented a case before the court on December 11, 2006. The then Superintendent of Police had declared cash reward of Rs 10,000 for giving any information or apprehending the prisoner.
On July 19, Crime Branch received information that lifetime prisoner Vinod Kanogia reached his house in Cherital area to attend the funeral of his father. Acting promptly on the information, a combine team of Crime Branch and Kotwali police started a search and succeeded in apprehending the accused and produced him before the court. In further investigation, police learnt that the prisoner reached Pune and Mumbai where he was working as labourer and driver and his family members are lived at Punjab Bank Colony.The absconding prisoner was arrested by police team comprised of Crime Branch’s ASI, Ramsanehi Sharma, Head Constables, Arvind Shrivastava, Harishankar Gupta and Constable, Rajesh Kewat.
