Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the new air service from Jabalpur to Kolkata through video conferencing, on Friday. On the occasion Member of Parliament, Rakesh Singh also did symbolic inauguration of the air service during a program organized at Dumna Airport.
Addressing the program virtually, Scindia said Jabalpur has immense potential. It is the judicial capital of Madhya Pradesh as well as a beautiful tourist destination and is the main center of Central India in perspective of industries. He said with start of air service to Kolkata, the business and industry of the city will get a new impetus.
Expressing views on the occasion, MP Singh said since the beginning he has been endeavoring for development of Jabalpur, for creation of employment opportunities, facilities to the youth in the field of education, industrialization, tourism etc. He said for all these there has been a need for expansion of air services. Singh expressed gratitude to the Central Government and especially to Civil Aviation Minister Scindia, who has started the air service to Kolkata again on his request. Singh said a large number of Bengali speaking people reside in Jabalpur, as well as many people go to Kolkata for business.He also express gratitude to Ajay Singh of SpiceJet.
Jabalpur-Kolkata flight will reach Jabalpur from Mumbai at 6.55 pm every day. It will leave Kolkata at 7.15 pm. The flight will arrive from Kolkata to Jabalpur at 8.30 am and will leave for Mumbai at 8.50 am.
Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation V K Singh and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Vivek Tankha joined the programme virtually while MLA Ashok Rohani and other leaders were participated in it at Dumna Airport.
