Sanskardhani’s roads turned saffron due to the longest ‘Kanwad Yatra’ of Madhya Pradesh, carried out in the city in a grand manner on Monday. Thousands of ‘Kanwadiye’ assembled at the banks of Maa Narmada at Gwarighat and after filling their ‘Kanwads’ with holy water, initiated their 35 kms long ‘Kanwad Yatra’ chanting ‘Bam Bhole’.
It may be mentioned that the longest ‘Kanwad Yatra’ of Madhya Pradesh carried out from Sanskardhani, has already registered in ‘Golden Book of World Record’.
The ‘Kanwad Yatra’ was started from Gwarighat at 7 am on Monday. Hundred and thousands of ‘Kanwadiye’ crossing different streets of the city, reached Kailash Dham, Matamar and offered the holy water of Maa Narmada on Shivlinga.
More than 200 Swagat Manch were installed at various spots in the city to welcome ‘Kanwadiye’ with loud tune of Dhol-Nagada. The Kanwadiye filled one of their earthen pots with the holy water while in another pot they were carrying saplings. After two-years of break due to global pandemic ‘COVID-19’, the ‘Kanwad Yatra’ was carried out in such a grand level.
During ‘Kanwad Yatra’, people from all walks of life including representatives from different political parties and social organizations came together to ensure success of ‘Kanwad Yatra’.
To ensure security and basic facilities during ‘Kanwad Yatra’, both the District Administration and Police Department made all arrangements. Few days back, Collector, Dr. Ilaiyaraja T and Superintendent of Police, Siddharth Bahuguna inspected all arrangements for the Yatra between Gwarighat and Kailashdham. Along with deploying adequate number of police force, many routes were diverted to provide Kanwadiye an easy pass.
