Man arrested for strangulating wife, tampering with evidence

Investigating suicide case of a woman, Majhgavan police succeeded in apprehending the accused of strangulating his wife and hanged the body from the ceiling to hide the evidence of murder. The accused has been identified as Shriram alias Ramu Patel (34), a resident of Chikhli village.
SHO of Majhgavan police station, Anni Lal Saryam informed that on June 7, 2022, police received information of death of woman in Chikhli village. Learning about the incident, a police team reached the spot where Gram Kotwar Ramji Dahiya (62), resident of Chikhli village informed that he was on the way towards his farm when his son informed him on phone that Ramu was clashing with his family members.
Receiving the information, he reached at residence of Shriram alias Ramu and found that the door of his house was locked from inside. He along with other villagers continuously called Ramu when he opened the door and informed that his wife Urmila Patel (32) committed suicide by hanging herself from ceiling of her room. Police sent the body for post-mortem after conducting Panchnama and registered intimation for further investigation. Investigating the case, police took statements of deceased’s daughter Durga alias Tinu Patel (13), son Santosh Patel (10), brother and mother, residents of Sallaiyya village. On the basis of physical evidences and post-mortem report, it was confirmed that the woman was hanged with the ceiling after being strangulated.
Police detained the suspected man Shriram alias Ramu who confessed the killing of his wife over domestic violence. Majhgavan police have registered a case under Sections 302 and 201 of IPC while further investigations are underway.
