Faiz

IN YET another dominating one-man show, Vidarbha skipper Faiz Fazal excelled with both bat and ball in Lisburn Cricket Club’s thumping win over Instonians in a low-scoring Northern Cricket Union (NCU) Premier League match at Wallace Park, Lisburn.
With eight wins from nine games, Lisburn are leading the points table with 32 points. As many as four teams are following the leaders with six wins and 24 points each.
Electing to bat, Lisburn were shot out for a mere 154 in 46.4 overs. Opening the innings, Faiz gauged the tough situation early and played accordingly. He played 98 balls in making a match high of 54 that contained just four hits to the fence before being the sixth man out. Number nine Josh Manley scored a quick 30 from 17 balls hitting a couple of boundaries and three sixes as the team crossed the 150-run mark.
With the conditions favouring bowlers, Faiz (6-2-13-3) returned with the best figures as Instonians were shot out for 94 in 36 overs. M Humphreys (10-1-25-3) also bowled well for the winners.
Chore-Shields wins it for North Down
In another game of the league, former Vidarbha player Aniruddha Chore missed out on a well-deserved hundred but helped his team North Down secure a handsome 96-run win over Woodvale.
Woodvale invited North Down to bat. Stumper Chore (91; 132b, 7x4, 1x6) and his skipper A Shields (91; 118b, 8x4, 1x6) both made an identical score but the former was unlucky as he was run out. The team amassed 271-6 in stipulated 50 overs.
With rain affecting the match, Woodvale were set a revised target of 258 in 45 overs. The team was shot out for 161 with Shields (9-1-23-5) returning with a five-wicket haul.
