Randhawa to represent India in Jr Asian Handball Championship

HARPREET Singh Randhawa has been selected in the Indian team for the 17th Asian Junior Men Handball Championship which is going to be held at Bahrain, from July 15 to 24. Harpreet Singh, son of Inderjeet Singh and Lovneet Randhawa, both former international handball players, is a regular member of Nagpur District Handball Association. The selection trials were held at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hydrabad recently where Harpreet performed well and got selected in the Indian team.
Harpreet has followed his parents’ and brother’s footsteps as all have represented the country in handball.
Harpreet’s mother Dr Lovneet Kaur Randhawa has represented India on several occasion and also led the country twice. She is the only women government observer of handball federation appointed by Govt of India.
Harpreet’s father, Dr Inderjeet Singh Randhawa is also a former India handball captain with 16 years of international career which is probably the longest in handball. He is also a coach of the Indian team for Asian Games and B Asian (Sr/Jr) teams. He was the only player from handball sport to be part of Continental Series (Combined Asia team).
Harpreet’s brother Capt Manpreet Singh Randhawa is currently captain of Indian Handball B Asian men’s team and is also a member of Army handball team and is a serving as an Officer in Indian Army.
Harpreet’s selection was hailed by Dr Babanrao Taywade, Chairman, Nagpur District Amateur Handball Association (NDAHA), Dr Sunil Bhotmange, Secretary, NDAHA, Roopkumar Naidu, Senior Vice-President HAM, Vipin Kamdar, Rajkumar Naidu, Atul Durugkar, Sanjay Dev, Pallavi Dhatrak DSO, Atmaram Pande, Milind Makde, Jaya Deo, Pankaj Kothari, Pawan Meshram, TSO, Shailesh Yadav and others.
