Bhati in Indian team for World Racketlon C’ship

NAGPUR’S Manish Bhati will be representing India in the World Racketlon Championship in the above 45 men’s category to be held in Vienna (Austria) from August 19 to 22.
Racketlon is a combination of individual sports disciplines of table tennis, badminton, squash and tennis. One has to score 21 points in each discipline and the overall score decides the winner.
Monesh Mashruwala of Ahmedabad will lead the team which also includes Ashutosh Padnekar, Varinder Singh, Gourav Rakshit, Sanjeev Kumar and Manish Bhati.
The women’s team includes Naheed Divecha and Moon Moon Mukherjee.
Bhati started playing this game just one year ago and this will be his first international tournament. Along with singles, he will also play doubles with Gaurav Rakshit.
Bhatti is a former university table tennis player and has participated in various district badminton championship. He is coached by international ultra cyclist Dr Amit Samarth.
Suresh Menon coaches Bhatti in badminton at Mankapur Stadium while Ajay Kamble helps him in table tennis and Santosh Chaterjee supports him in tennis at Gondwana Club. Bhatti practices squash at MIA Club in MIDC.
