The Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) is carrying out drive to bulldoze old and dilapidated permanent structures situated with municipal limits to ensure safety of people who are living in and around such houses.
Under the drive conducted on Friday, the anti-encroachment and building department of the JMC razed a damage house, located in Miloniganj, Chhota Phuhara.
Senior officials of building department informed that they demolished the dilapidated house of one Rupesh Kumar Jaiswal. They said the civic body, in the past, sent several notices to concerned person and asked him to dismantle the damaged house. But, when the owner paid no attention to JMC’s notices, the building and anti-encroachment department conducted drive and razed the dangerous structure.
It may be noted that a number of houses which got constructed decades ago become dilapidated with passage of time. Now, these old structures become dangerous for citizens who are living in and surrounding areas. Therefore, to ensure safety of general public, the Municipal Corporation has started the drive and razing dilapidated permanent structures. Meanwhile, the JMC administration has directed the building department to expedite the on-going drive and remove all dilapidated, old structures which are posing danger to citizens. The Municipal Commissioner said in coming days when heavy rains lash the city the old, damaged houses may prove dangerous to citizens.
