Putting a check on use of fossil fuel in Eailways, West Central Railway (WCR) has saved the diesel expenditure in last three months amounting to above Rs. 1 crore in maintenance of LHB coaches. Now maintenance of coaches is being carried out through 750 volts supply from sub-station.
It may be noted that the use of advanced coaches has been increased while new techniques are being frequently adopted.
Earlier, electricity supply for maintenance of LHB coaches was carried out through two DG Sets available in every train while pit line maintenance was also carried out through these DG sets. DG sets were being operated through huge quantity of diesel. Maintenance of LHB coaches requires 750 volts electricity supply and WCR has established 750 volts sub-station at all the pit lines in Jabalpur, Bhopal and Kota divisions for adequate power supply for maintenance of LHB rakes.
Use of electricity has stopped diesel fuel to check environment pollution and stopping use of generator car in trains and saved more than one crore rupees in diesel in last three months.
WCR conducted maintenance of 817 LHB rakes in Jabalpur, Bhopal and Kota divisions from April 2022 to June 2022 and saved 1,22,060 litres diesel amounting to Rs. 1.07 crore.
