Normal life has been disrupted in Chhindwara due to heavy rains. The Gahraha nullah is in spate, in such a situation the connectivity of Chhindwara to Nagpur has been lost while the nearby river drains are also overflowing. The worst condition is in Chhindwara city where due to the negligence of the municipal corporation, the roads have become water-logged and some houses in the low-lying areas of Gulabra, railway station related areas has been flooded. Proper drainage system is not being made by the municipal administration, due to which water is visible everywhere in Chhindwara city. Traffic was affected for a long time due to overflow of Bodri river in the diverted route of the bridge under construction in Chhindwara Guraiya Road. Due to rain in the district since late night, the connectivity of Chhindwara - Nagpur National Highway has been lost for the last two hours.

During this, traffic remained disrupted for two hours due to overflow of Gahranala diverted road of Chhindwara - Nagpur Highway of Sausar, said TI Khatarkar.
Within a few minutes of torrential rain, dirty water filled people’s homes. In rainfall on Wednesday, big drains and drains in low-lying areas including Gulabra, Rambagh, Indira Nagar overflowed and dirty water filled people’s homes. People of the affected area took out the dirty water from their homes.
Omkar Malvi, a resident, said that the population is increasing in the city, but the corporation does not have any planning for drainage. In the rain-affected areas, if the engineers of the corporation inspect the spot, then people can be removed from this trouble. But the apathy of the corporation is beyond comprehension, he added.
