International badminton player Akarshi Kashyap, who brought laurels to State, was greeted by huge crowd when she reached her hometown Durg on Wednesday.
Akarshi’s victorious rally started from Green Chowk railway station and ended at her residence at Kasaridih Chowk, while visiting the main roads of the city. During this, the leaders of political parties, besides various sports, social, religious organisations and the people of the city gave her a grand welcome.
There was a lot of enthusiasm among the people involved in the winning rally. As a result, slogans of Jai Ho resonated throughout the winning rally. Akarshi Kashyap reached Green Chowk Railway Station Chowk at 1 pm on Wednesday after winning the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games-2022 in badminton game. In Green Chowk, MLA Arun Vora, Mayor Dheeraj Bakliwal, State Backward Classes Commission Vice-Chairman RN Verma, former chairman Rajkumar Narayani, district BJP President Jitendra Verma besides other public representatives welcomed Akarshi and congratulated her for the historic achievement. After that her victory rally reached Gurdwara Station Road, Sindhi Dharamshala, CA Building, Rajendra Park Chowk. In front of Mennonite Church, Akarshi was accorded a grand welcome by the office bearers under the leadership of Prahlad Rungta, the Durg district unit president of Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries. During this, State Minister of the Chamber Ashok Rathi, Chairman Pawan Barjatya, Ashish Nimje, Ravi Keoltani, CAT President Mohd Ali Hirani, Sanjay Choubey, Anil Ballewar and other officials were present. In Kasaridih Chowk, under the leadership of Kelabari Ward Councilor Hameed Khokhar and in the presence of the ward residents, Akarshi was welcomed and congratulated for the victory. During this, apart from Sanjay Daharwal, Akhilesh Mishra, Ayub Khan, Yogesh Thakur, a large number of people of the ward were present. Akarshi’s father Dr. Sanjeev Kashyap, Mukesh Sharma, Mahesh Yadav, besides sports, religious and social organizations gathered in large numbers in the winning rally.
