As three-tier Panchayat and urban body elections are over in the State. Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have geared up for the Legislative Assembly elections slated to be held next year. BJP State General Secretary Ajay Jamwal is in the State capital and has rounds of deliberations with senior party leaders including National Joint Secretary Shiv Prakash, State General Secretary Hitanand Sharma, State President V D Sharma and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He also exhorted public representatives and workers to start working at booth-level.
Taking a dig, Congress has said, “As party suffered losses in local body elections. Party has to start preparations seems feeling sceptical about wining in Assembly elections.”
Talking to ‘The Hitavada’, State Media Cell Incharge of Congress K K Sharma said, “Which BJP? Since there are two BJPs in the State, one is run by VD Sharma and another is by Scindia as it has been seen in Guna and Raisen where Scindia supporter like Prabhuram Choudhary had fielded his candidate in the local elections.” In a bid to form Government in next year’s Assembly elections, Congress has appointed district incharges. Party has first time coined this post named ‘District Incharge’. State President Kamal Nath has appointed incharges for 52 districts who will play a crucial role between various wings– Youth Congress, Mahila Congress etc. and the party at higher-level. According to party spokesperson, these incharges will have to stay in their respective districts for 10 days. They will also look after strengthening party at booth level. These incharges have been empowered more than district presidents as they will report directly to PCC chief. Emphasising on Chhindwara, three incharges have been appointed as against the one at each district. Mukesh Nayak will look after Bhopal, Mahendra Singh Chouhan for Gwalior, Mahendra Joshi for Indore and Shobha Ojha for Ujjain and Sunil Jain will be the incharge of Jabalpur.
