Following the cyclonic circulation and low-pressure system developed over the State, the city is receiving rainfall since early morning. Light to moderate showers are lashing the city. Although the incessant rainfall has dampen the zeal of Rakshabandhan, but the Jabalpurians still celebrated the festival of bond of love between sister and brother.

For the last few days, the city has been witnessing hot and humid weather. On Wednesday evening, weather conditions changed and city started receiving rain. The Weather Department predicts that the conditions would persist further and the city may receive heavy rainfall in next 48 hours.

The changed climatic conditions are showing ray of hope that soon the rainfall figure would reach to the maximum level. The local weather department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in next 24 hours in several districts of the division. The relative humidity on Thursday morning was recorded to 92 per cent while in evening it increases to 96 percent. Likewise, the minimum temperature was registered to 26.2 degree Celsius while in the evening it was recorded at 23.6 degree Celsius. Last year, maximum temperature of the day was 31.0 degree Celsius while minimum temperature was 23.5 degree Celsius. Since morning the city received 22.6 mm rainfall, which has increased the total rainfall figure to 644 mm.
