The State capital was submerged in water by the intermittent downpour that continued for almost 48 hours. The continuous rainfall has added to the difficulties of people. On Wednesday night, more than 50 areas including Chhola, Shivnagar, Kolar, Ashoka Garden, Hoshangabad Road were flooded with water up to two feet. People also suffered a lot due to water-logging in shops and houses. In Bagh Mughalia, more than 20 shops were flooded with water by 2 feet. On Thursday morning, the shopkeepers were busy in flushing out water. On Thursday as well, drizzling and heavy rainfall continued.
It rained throughout the night in the city. Due to more than two inches of rain, many areas were water-logged. Rain created havoc in areas like Chola, Ashoka Garden, Banganga, Kolar Road, Nayapura, Lalita Nagar, Mandakini, Chunabhatti, Shahpura, Bharat Nagar, Shivnagar, Karond including Hoshangabad Road, Kolar Road, Raisen Road, Bairagarh etc. Traders suffered a lot due to water filling in about 10 shops of Lalitanagar market.
Water filled more than 20 shops in Bagh Mughalia Extension. At the same time, water got accumulated around the petrol pump on Hamidia Road. Due to this the petrol pump had to be closed.
Goods worth lakhs wasted due to water filling in shops: Due to lack of drainage system in Bagh Mughalia Extension Colony, the water of the drain filled many shops. Due to this, the goods kept in more than a dozen shops were ruined due to water. Traders said that due to water filling in the shop, they have suffered a loss ranging from five to 50 thousand rupees. Hundreds of fishermen increasing difficulty around Kaliasot Dam: Here, hundreds of fishermen have gathered for fishing around Kaliasot Dam. This has added to the difficulties of the municipal corporation. Fire Officer Pankaj Khare said, “A fisherman got stuck while fishing near gate number-13 on Thursday morning. It’s video arrived immediately after it surfaced. However, the youth was pulled out after being trapped for two hours. At present, a large number of people are coming to fish. This has increased the danger, because there are also crocodiles and crocodiles in the dam. Many people were driven away. Three gates each of Kaliasot-Bhadbhada dams opened: Due to good rains in the catchment area, the water level of Upper Lake has increased. Due to this, 3 gates each of Bhadbhada and Kaliasot dams have been opened. The gates of Kolar Dam have been closed for the time being. Bhopal received 90% rain: Bhopal’s average rainfall is 42 inches. About 36 inches of rain has fallen so far this season. So far last year only 20 and a half inches of rain was recorded. Bhopal recorded 2.5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours.
