Make PDS stronger in tribal dominated areas: CM Chouhan

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the work of providing ration to the people in tribal dominated areas should be continuously reviewed. At present, the increase in the number of beneficiaries under the scheme and the lifting of food grains is commendable. The youth of the tribal community have been given the responsibility of this work, due to which they also got self-employment and the villagers have been ensured to get food grains on time. Continuous evaluation of this grand scheme, which provides food grains to about seven and a half lakh people in their villages itself, should be done to make it more effective. The popularity of the scheme will continue to increase due to the study of the plan from the Atal Behari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis and monitoring the implementation by public representatives.
Chief Minister Chouhan was reviewing the ‘Mukhyamantri Ration-Aapke Gram’ scheme in Mantralaya on Wednesday. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, Principal Secretary, and Commissioner Public Relations Raghavendra Kumar Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister M Selvendran, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Civil Supplies Corporation, Tarun Kumar Pithode was present.
Consumers also increased with the uptake: It was informed that before the implementation of this scheme, where on an average 1,73,000 metric tonnes of food grains were being lifted, which has now increased to more than 1,80,000 metric tonnes. Similarly, the number of consumers has also increased. In this scheme started last year, on an average 7,14,000 consumers were getting benefitted earlier. Now their number has increased to more than 7,30,000. The increase in different districts has ranged from 3 to 10 per cent.
State-level control command system proposed for implementation of the scheme: It was informed in the meeting that as per the instructions given earlier by Chief Minister Chouhan, the proposal has been prepared following the continuous monitoring of the scheme and strict control system at the state level. In this proposal, the responsibility for setting up a control command system at the state level, installation of GPS systems in vehicles used by youth for material distribution, monitoring of material distribution in the designated location by bringing POS machines in 4G mode and study of the plan. At present, the implementation of the scheme is being monitored by public representatives at various levels. Along with his suggestions, efforts have also been made to make the scheme effective continuously.
Government of Madhya Pradesh started the work of supplying food grains from 223 supply centres to tribaldominated areas of the state with the Mukhyamantri Ration-Aapke Gram scheme, as a result of which more than 26,000 fair price shops are suppliedration.
