After heavy rains in Durg district, all the rivers and streams of the district are in spate due to which Durg-Dhamdha, Durg-Gandai, Durg-Jalbandha and Durg-Berla roads are closed as Sheonath River is overflowing from all the over-bridges on these roads.
Many villagers are stuck in flood at various part of the district and after information the SDRF team has launched massive rescue operation.
Under this in Konari-Bharda village, the SDRF team rescued 3 people trapped in the flood and brought them to a safe place, 2 people trapped in the flood in village Dandesara were also rescued and shifted to a safe place. Apart from this 8 people were rescued from village Hardi under Nandini Police Station and shifted to safe place.
District flood control in-charge and Joint Collector Yogita Dewangan said that water is flowing over many bridges and culverts in Dhamdha division due to continuous rise in the water level of Sheonath River. As such the Durg-Dhamdha, Durg-Gandai, Durg-Jalbandha and Durg-Berla roads have been closed since Thursday morning, water is flowing over the bridge culverts of these routes, due to which the traffic has almost stopped from both the sides.
Nagar Senani Nagendra Kumar Singh informed that 3 labourers were stranded due to flood in Konari-Bharda. They were rescued by the SDRF team and shifted to a safe place. He informed that likewise two people trapped in the flood
affected area in village Dandesara in Durg division and 8 people trapped in village Hardi were also rescued after information. Assistant sub-inspector of Pulgaon police station, Sahu said that among the three labourers Soman Lal Thakur resident of village Bharda, Sardul Yadav from West Bengal and Parasnath Yadav from Uttar Pradesh were rescued from the flood affected area by the SDRF team and brought to a safe place. Sahu informed that all the three labourers were working on the bridge under construction at the confluence site of Sheonath and Amner rivers. Due to the rising water level, all the three labourers were trapped and after information they have been safely evacuated by the SDRF team
