The Opposition has demanded to convene a special meeting of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC). In this regard, Leader of Opposition Shabista Zaki has also handed over a letter to BMC Chairman Kishan Suryavanshi on Friday.

The Opposition wants discussion in the matter of opening the file of Lokayukta inquiry against Mayor Malti Rai in the cement concrete road scam case. At the same time, the Opposition has braced itself to attack the Mayor on the dilapidated roads and dysfunctional street lights. In the presence of Leader of Opposition Zaki, the corporators handed over a letter to the Chairman. Notably, 15 years ago, in the construction of cement concrete roads in MP Nagar area of Bhopal, the then 39 corporators of BJP were found guilty of overpayment of Rs 85 lakh to the contractor. Rai, the current Mayor, was also a Corporator in that council. Recently, incharge Divisional Commissioner Maal Singh has issued notices. After this the Congress has begun raising demands to call a special meeting. Corporators Sarwar, Yogendra Singh Guddu Chauhan, Priyanka Mishra, Devanshu Kansana, former councilor Monu Saxena and others were present. Meeting will also discuss these issues:- ■ The condition of roads in the city is not good due to lack of maintenance. The opposition wants to discuss this issue with the Mayor. ■Street lights are dysfunctional in many areas of the city. Leader of Opposition Shabista Zaki said, “When complaints are made about street lights, Smart City and BMC toss responsibility on each upon other.
