Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday visited Sethani Ghat and Narmada College in Narmadapuram district to take stock of the arrangements in view of excessive rainfall and rising water level in rivers. He said the situation is under control. Keeping in view the heavy rain warning issued by the Meteorological Department, it is being decided that water should not be released from the dams simultaneously. He said that due to excessive rains, water is being released from all dams including Bargi, Barna, Tawa, Kolar, due to which the water level of Narmada has increased. Water has also been released from other dams below. He said that it is a good thing that the rain has stopped. Now the situation is completely under control. There is a chance of rain now, so there is a need to be very careful. MLAs Dr Sitasaran Sharma, Vijaypal Singh and Thakur Das Nagvanshi, Municipality President Neetu Yadav and corporators were present. Instructions given to officers to make arrangements and be alert: Chief Minister directed the Divisional Commissioner Mal Singh, Collector Neeraj Singh, Superintendent of Police Dr Gurukaran Singh and other officers to maintain other arrangements including health, drinking water, cleanliness and toilets at the relief centres and take precaution. He asked the officials whether any village was in the grip of floods. Officials told him that the road contact of Sadhe Teen village of Makhan Nagar block has been lost. Boats have been sent there. Home Guard personnel have also been deployed. The Chief Minister inquired about Malkahedi and Nimsadia villages. Along with this, instructions were given to the officers to maintain contact with the citizens of all low-lying areas.
Information about relief centres: Chief Minister Chouhan inspected the relief centre set up in the Government Narmada College and told officials to take stock of the arrangements and ensure that well-planned arrangements were made at the centre. He was told that after identifying eight places for relief centres, proper arrangements have been made there. Chief Minister Chouhan also discussed with Municipal President. Yadav. He said that public representatives and district administration should ensure better work of disaster management with mutual co-ordination.
