The third meeting of Political Committee for recommendation of liquor ban was held under the chairmanship of its Chairman and Raipur Rural MLA Satyanarayan Sharma at GST Bhawan, Nava Raipur on Tuesday.
Chairman Sharma informed that a team would be constituted to study the necessary preparations to be made for banning liquor in the state. The team will prepare a report by visiting other states where complete ban on sale of liquor has been in force, they will also visit such states where prohibition was effected but later the ban was revoked.
The team will also study a tribal state in the country. For this, permission will be
taken by informing the concerned states. After getting permission, a programme for study tour will be prepared, Sharma added.
MLA Sharma further informed that Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) refused to provide two names each from their parties to be included in the committee.
The members of the committee gave suggestions for effective control on the sale of illegal liquor in the state. Panchnama should be written on the seizure of illegal liquor, the Sarpanch of the village, village Patel, Kotwal and the head of the society/enlightened citizens should have their signature in the Panchnama, the members suggested. The members also suggested for installation of CCTV in liquor shops, to effectively control the alternative drugs other than liquor, to redress the complaints received on the departmental toll free number 14405 and others in the meeting. Excise Commissioner Niranjan Das apprised about the action details and compliance report of the earlier meetings. Members Rashmi Singh, Shishupal Sori, Kunwar Singh Nishad, Keshav Chandra, Uttari Jangade, Dwarikadheesh Yadav, Dhaneshwar Sahu, Purushottam Kanwar and officials of the Excise Department attended the meeting.
