Two swept away with car in Sehore’s Siwan River; Patwari’s body recovered, Tehsildar still missing

A major accident has taken place in Sehore district where two revenue officials were washed away along with their car in the overflowing Siwan River. Tehsildar Narendra Thakur and Patwari Mahendra Rajak were driving a car which fell in the Siwan River. During the rescue operation being carried out on a war footing, the body and car of Mahendra Rajak have been fished out of the river but Tehsildar Narendra Thakur is yet to be found.
On the basis of the location of the missing Tehsildar and Patwari since Monday night, search was being done in Siwan River near Karbala bridge, but both were not found till Tuesday late evening. At around 8:30 am on Wednesday, the body and car of Patwari Mahendra Rajak was recovered from village Chhapri, three kilometres away from the spot. While the search for Tehsildar Narendra Thakur is still on. It was learnt that Narendra Singh Thakur is the President of Madhya Pradesh Tehsildar Union. The family members of the Tehsildar and of the Patwari reached Mandi police station and lodged a missing report when both of them did not return till Tuesday morning after going out for dinner a night earlier. The police had started an investigation after registering an FIR in the matter on Tuesday. At the same time, on the basis of the location found from the CCTV footage, a search operation was conducted near the Karbala bridge on the Siwan River. However, till late in the evening nothing could be found.
Tehsildar Narendra Thakur is a resident of Sugar Factory square and Patwari Mahendra Rajak was of Housing Krishna Nagar, Sehore district. Tehsildar Thakur is posted in Tehsil Mohanpur Badhodia of Shajapur while Patwari was posted in Nasrullaganj Tehsil of the district.
Tehsildar Narendra Singh Thakur’s son reached the police station and lodged a missing report, in which it was stated that on Monday night, the Tehsildar and Patwari went to the farm house of friend Tarun Singh in Rafikganj to party with their friends Mahendra Sharma and Rahul Arya. After this information, the Mandi Police Station was engaged in the search. The car was spotted in CCTV footage, going from Karbala bridge to a petrol pump near Indore Naka, while the car was not seen in the CCTV of Ganesh temple, which likely led to NDRF start searching in Siwan River near Karbala bridge. The team kept searching the river on Tuesday evening, but on Wednesday morning at 8:30, when the Mandi Police and NDRF’s search team reached village Chhapri, about three km away, searching the river bank, a car was found in the river, which was taken out and the body of Patwari Mahendra Rajak body was also found in it. The search for Tehsildar Narendra Thakur is still going on.
In this regard, SHO Pushpendra Singh Rathore said that the family members had lodged a missing complaint, on the basis of which the search was being done. The car and the body of Patwari Mahendra Rajak have been found near village Chhapri. While the search for Tehsildar Narendra Thakur is still on.
