Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government at the Centre over rising inflation.
Talking to mediapersons in the State Capital before leaving for Delhi, Baghel said, “Inflation is at its peak in the country. Petrol, diesel, cooking gas and cooking oil is becoming costlier day by day. Now Goods and Services Tax (GST) is being imposed on cheese and curd. Nothing has been left out by this Government. Ever since the railway started, train services were not closed but the BJP government at the Centre is cancelling train services. Platform ticket fare, as well as train ticket fare, has been hiked. Now a one-year-old child will also have to get a full ticket thus this government is looting the people of the country”.
Replying to a query on the change of Leader of Opposition in the BJP, Baghel said, “I congratulate Narayan Chandel Ji for becoming the Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. I hope he will play the role of constructive opposition in the house.”
Senior BJP leaders have been neglected in selection for the post of the Leader of Opposition. There were many contenders in the BJP for the post of Leader of Opposition, Brijmohan Agrawal, Ajay Chandrakar, Shivratan Sharma and others who could have held the position of Leader of Opposition. But it was the decision of the BJP, he added.
BJP Chhattisgarh In-charge Daggubati Purandeswari and BJP Organisation General Secretary Ajay Jamwal have come to change everything in the BJP Chhattisgarh organisation and they will change all things in the BJP.
The sitting 14 BJP MLAs will not get tickets in the upcoming assembly elections, he added. On being asked whether Dr Raman Singh was sidelined after the change of the Leader of Opposition, Baghel quipped, “If Dr Raman Singh gets a chance to become Governor, he should accept it as things are being changed in the BJP organization even in his presence. These changes indicate that Dr Raman Singh is being sidelined in the party.” Baghel claimed that there was no consultation with any BJP MLAs before the selection of the Leader of Opposition, but a slip came from Delhi which has been read in the meeting. This change indicates that the BJP leadership does not have faith in the existing team of the BJP so the BJP State President and the Leader of Opposition have been replaced, he added. To a query on BJP leader Ajay Chandrakar’s allegations over the amendment to Cooperative Act, Baghel said, “It is the dharma of Ajay Chandrakar to oppose the Act, which was passed in the Assembly. Ajay Chandrakar however cannot become the Leader of Opposition by opposing the decision of the ruling party and has to be content being the party spokesperson.” Meanwhile, State Congress Chief Mohan Markam said, the BJP is under the wrong impression that changing the leadership will help to win the lost trust of the people in Chhattisgarh. The character cannot be changed by changing the face. By Changing Dharamlal Kaushik from the post of the Leader of Opposition and Vishnu Deo Sai from the post of the State President, the BJP is pretending to be moving away from Dr Raman Singh’s shadow in the party
