City all decked up to celebrate Shri Krishna Janmashtami

Festivities are in the air and markets in the State capital are all decked up for Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, which will be celebrated on August 19 and 20. Markets in are flooded with colourful idols of Lord Krishna. From bronze to white metal and wood, the idols look stunning and have been created in various sizes.
From bright coloured cotton, zari and silk dresses to multi-coloured flutes, hand fans, swings, pagdi and stone-studded mukuts (tiaras), everything is available and stocked at markets.
If the shopkeepers are to be believed, this year the craze for readymade colourful dresses and decorative has increased and buyers are banking on it despite price variations.
Ashish Kuntal, a shopkeeper in New Market, who has decked up his shop for the festival says, “There are decorative items to suit every budget- from Rs 10 to Rs 1,000 available in the market. People are buying things according to their choice and budget. The markets are looking up.”
