Sleuths of the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) Jabalpur raided the houses of Regional Transport Officer, Santosh Paul and his wife RTO Clerk, Rekha Paul late night on Wednesday, and unearthed 650 per cent surplus properties and assets above their income sources.
Superintendent of Police, EOW Jabalpur, Devendra Pratap Singh Rajput, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’ informed that they had received several complaints about corrupt practices and disproportionate properties with RTO Santosh Paul and his wife RTO Clerk, Rekha Paul. Acting on the complaints, EOW team led by Inspector, Swarnjeet Singh Dhami conducted a secret investigation on the couple.
On the basis of evidence, EOW Jabalpur obtained search warrant from the court. At around 10:30 pm on Wednesday, three teams of EOW led by Inspector, Swarnjeet Singh Dhami simultaneously conducted raids at residences of Santosh Paul and Rekha Paul at Shatabdipuram, MR-4 Road, farm house situated at Diyakhera village on Chargavan road and Scheme number-41, Zero Degree, Vijay Nagar. During the raids, EOW teams found a residential building on 1247 sq ft area at PP Colony, Gwarighat, a residential building on 1150 sq ft area at Shankar Shah Ward, two residential buildings at Shatabdipuram, MR-4 road on 10,000 sq ft area, a residential building on 570 sq ft at Kasturba Gandhi Ward, a house on 771 sq ft area in Garha Fatak, a farm house on 1.4 acres land at Dikhakhera village on Chargavan road, an I-20 car (MP 20 CB 5455), Scorpio (MP 20 HA 8653), Pulsar motorcycle (MP 20 NF 2888) and Bullet (MP 20 MSZ 5455). Besides this, EOW team also seized cash of Rs. 16 lakh and gold and silver jewellery. Besides this, acting on a tip-off, the EOW team conducted search at Joy School premises
and seized valuable furniture belong to RTO Santosh Paul and Rekha Paul. EOW SP, D P S Rajput informed that the valuation of properties and seized valuables and assets is being carried out while further investigations are underway to unearth more disproportionate properties and assets of the accused.The raid was conducted by combined team of EOW Jabalpur compriseing of DSP, AV Singh, Inspector, Uma Naval Arya, Swarnjeet Singh Dhami, Prerna Pandey, Shashikala Maskule, Momendra Kumar Marskole, SI, Govind Singh Yadav, Chandrajeet Yadav, Vishakha Tiwari, Roshni Soni and others.
