Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal at 9 pm on Saturday night after his health deteriorated. He has tested positive for COVID-19 and is undergoing treatment in AIIMS.

According to doctors, the Governor was complaining of cough, fever and shortness of breath for three days. After which he was admitted to AIIMS. His health bulletin was released by AIIMS management on Sunday morning. His condition is continuously improving. He is being given oxygen every minute to keep oxygen level at 98 per cent.

According to team treating the Governor, Dr Rajneesh Joshi, Head of the Medicine Department of AIIMS, Governor Patel had fever when he was admitted to hospital.

In the tests, his body temperature was recorded at 101 degrees, heart beat (heart rate) was 94 per minute and oxygen level was recorded at 93 per cent. He was given oxygen support immediately after treatment was started.

According to doctors, after treatment, the Governor slept well after dinner.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reached AIIMS to inquire about the health of Governor Mangubhai Patel. He inquired about the health of the Governor and wished him speedy recovery. Chief Minister Chouhan also held discussions with medical experts. The CM met AIIMS Director Dr Ajai Singh and discussed treatment of the Governor.

Infection in lungs, but no fever

Doctors said that there is infection in the lungs. Medicines are being administered to control lung infection. At 8 am on Sunday, his blood pressure was 144/72 mmHg, pulse 86 per minute and body temperature was 98.4 degrees. He has been put on oxygen support and is being given 2 liters of oxygen per minute, keeping the level at 98 per cent. His CT scan was done at 9 am on Sunday. During this, Director of AIIMS, Dr Ajai Singh was present in CT Scan Lab along with the Superintendent and Head of the Medicine Department Professor (Dr) Rajneesh Joshi.

Poor health due to frequent visits

Governor Mangubhai Patel was visiting many districts continuously. He participated in several programmes by visiting all the districts including Ujjain, Ratlam, Agar-Malwa. On August 18, he attended programmes organised in Lasudia village of Nalkheda Tehsil of Agar-Malwa district. After that his health started deteriorating.
