IN a tragic mishap, two college students were killed on spot while other sustained injuries when the speeding car they were travelling in collided with a truck after hitting the road divider and fell from the road near Chouhan Town in Bhilai on Tuesday morning. The car was being driven at reckless speed and as its outcome the mishap occurred, police said. Surendra Yadav, a resident of Kailash Nagar, Durg; Samir Kujur (21) of Ranchi, Jharkhand, residing here in Pragati Nagar, Risali, Bhilai and the injured is S Kamesh (20), son of Shivlal Kamesh of R P Nagar, Korba, residing here in Bhilai. The police said that at about at about 5:45 am on Tuesday, Sourabh Yadav was on wheels of the car and along with him Samir Kujur and S Kamesh were also travelling in the car (Mahindra Marazzo /CG05/H/9902). Near the flyover as the car was in high speed the driver lost control over the wheels and hit the divider and the car jumped into the other side of the road and rammed into a truck moving on the other side of the road. The impact of the collision was so severe that the car fell from the road and landed in the bushes down below near Chouhan Town in Nehru Nagar bypass in Bhilai. After information Smriti Nagar Post police and highway patrolling teams reached the spot and managed to take out the victims from the mangled car. The victims were immediately shifted to District Hospital, Durg and the doctors pronounced Sourabh Yadav and Samir Kujur dead on arrival while S Kamesh was admitted for treatment. Police sources further informed that as per preliminary investigation on Tuesday morning the college students were on way to Highway Dhhaba at Anjora Road, Durg for tea and snacks when the mishap occurred midway. As per information the students used to do combined study and during early hours they go to Dhhabas for having snacks and tea. Y Deshmukh, In-charge Police Officer, Smriti Nagar Police Post informed that apparently the mishap is the outcome of over speeding. The postmortem and medical reports of the victims are still awaited
