Amid heavy rains and wind flowing at a speed up to 60 kmph, many trees collapsed in the State capital on roads and on the cars and houses, incurring financial loss to several.
The State capital received maximum rain in Madhya Pradesh. It has rained 14 inches in 35 hours. After 16 years in August, the record of highest rainfall in a day was broken. In 2006, on August 14, 11.66 inches of rain fell in 24 hours. So far this season it has rained 66.50 inches. This is 23 inches more than the season’s quota of 42 inches. Prior to this, 56.58 inches of rain was received in 2016 and 67.45 inches in 2006. Due to heavy rain, the roof of the car broke due to falling of trees on Surendra Bhavan in Bawadia Kalan. Wall collapsed due to falling trees of Professor Colony, Bairagarh Sewa Sadan Hospital, near Lalghati railway gate. At the same time, two trees fell on the house near Chola Vishram Ghat. Trees also fell on two houses in Ayodhya Nagar, Narela Shankari. There have been reports of falling trees in other areas including Sahu Chakki, E3 Char Imli, Near Shivaji Nagar, Surendra Bhavan Bavdia Kala, Near Jehangirabad Barkhedi, Near CM House, Link Road No. 1 Near Taran Pushkar, Plot No. 61 Saket Nagar-Shakti Nagar, Ashoka Garden, Near Purana Subhash Ghar, Triveni Complex, Near Geetanjali Chauraha, Bavdia Kala, No 6 Stop, Ishwar Nagar, Near TT Nagar Stadium, Kohefiza BDA Colony, NRI Colony, Shalimar Complex Chouksey Nagar, DIG Bungalow.
