TWO were booked for attacking a police constable and ransacking Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) following heated exchanges over a trivial matter in New Police Line, Durg on Thursday late evening. After receiving the complaint, Kotwali, Durg Police have registered the offence and are further investigating the matter.
Police sources informed that in his compliant the victim Police Constable Abhishek Mishra, a resident of Vidut Nagar, Durg stated that at about 11:30 pm on Thursday, as usual he was on way home in his motorbike from Police Line, Durg when on way Vikas Kunjam took lift at Malviya Chowk, Durg and he dropped him near the residential quarters in New Police Line, Durg after Vikas Kunjam had introduced him as the force staffer. He alleged in his complaint that after reaching the residential area Vikas Kunjam indulged in heated exchanges and thrashed him severely. He allegedly fled the place with his vehicle’s key afterwards. He also alleged that the accused Vikas Kunjam and his father Ankalu Kunjam attacked him with lathis and inflicted serious injuries upon him after he reached their house and asked Vikas Kunjam for vehicle’s keys. The accused also allegedly ransacked ERV (Dial 112) reached the spot after complained by the residents from the police lines.
However, ERV staffers managed rescue of the victim police constable Abhishek Mishra and rushed him to District Hospital, Durg for treatment. In the attack Abhishek Mishra sustained serious injuries on head and mouth and he is undergoing treatment at the hospital. As per the sources among the accused Ankalu Kunjam is a policeman and Manish Kunjam is his son. In the matter Kotwali, Durg police have registered the offence against the accused under Sections 294, 323, 427, 506 and 34 of Indian Penal Code for indulging in the criminal acts. The police are further investigating the matter.
