The New Life Multispecialty Hospital was being operated in only 2000 square feet area, and even after the expiry of the provisional fire NOC. This negligence has taken as many as eight lives in the fire on Monday. The fire in the hospital has raised many serious questions, which are to be answered with utter sincerity and accountability.
Meanwhile, anger is brewing among general public against concerned authorities who gave permission for operation of hospital and allowing it to run without necessary fire and live safety arrangements. People have been demanding the district administration to arrest all culprits including the owners of the hospital early and punish them severely.
People are also asking the administration to take stringent action the officials concerned, who are playing with the lives of citizens.
Meanwhile, the police have registered an FIR against the owners of the hospital, Dr Nishith Gupta, Dr Suresh Patel and partner Sanjay Patel, Santosh Soni and Manager Ram Soni for culpable homicide, not amounting to murder. A number of public representatives, senior administrative and police officials visited the hospital and saw the ground realities. Besides, they also visited Metro Hospital and met the injured persons.
As per information, Vijay Nagar police have also registered the offense of culpable homicide against four owners (partners) and Manager of the hospital in killing of 8 people and injuring of 5 in the devastating fire that broke out at the hospital. As soon as the FIR was registered, the police arrested the accused Manager while three teams of police are making efforts to arrest absconding hospital owners. Vijay Nagar Police have registered the offense under sections 304, 308 and 34 of IPC against Manager Ram Soni and four owners, who escaped after the fire broke out in the hospital. Senior police officials informed that all right bodies were sent to the Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem on Monday night.
The team of doctors did the post-mortem of all the dead bodies in the night itself and later handed them over to their families.
