AN employee was injured in a mishap that occurred at pulpit area at Universal Rail Mill (URM) in Bhilai Steel

Plant (BSP) during Monday early hours.

The mishap victim employee was immediately shifted to JLN Hospital, Bhilai for treatment and his condition is stated to be stable. According to information at about 1:30 am on Monday, the crane was being operated by the contract worker when all of sudden it hit the pulpit cabin and panicked on-duty employees started running away. During the rush, one N K Meena fell on way and sustained injuries at his left leg. However, the situation was soon normalised and so was the production activities.

Public Relation Department, BSP officials informed that the crane operator was carrying the empty crop bucket to its position but it exceeded the exact position and moved towards Control Pulpit-8 (CP-8). It hit the pulpit and some portion of the pulpit got damaged, while escaping pulpit operator, N K Meena sustained injury on his left leg. However, Meena’s X-ray report is fine.
