To increase immunity against Covid infection, a booster dose campaign is being organised by the Health Department. The campaign is midway to end but the State capital’s performance is not up to the mark.
Among four metros, the State capital has administered least booster doses. Iin many small and backward districts, more booster doses have been administered than in Bhopal. Now, the Health Department claims that the situation will improve in the next campaign to be held from August 17. Notably, so far only 1.57 lakh people above 18 years of age have been administered booster doses in Bhopal. At the same time, 2.75 lakh doses have been administered in Indore, highest vaccination rate in the State.
Only 17 per cent of the target achieved In last two campaigns, only 17 per cent of the target could be achieved in the state capital. According to the information, a target of 80,000 booster doses was decided in both the campaigns. So far, only 14 thousand doses have been administered. Meanwhile, up to 90 per cent of the target was achieved in small districts like Khandwa, Morena, Datia. Lack of awareness reason for Bhopal’s lagging behind in the campaign is the lack of awareness of the importance of booster dose among the people, but there is also some administrative negligence.
Although vaccines are being administered in Bhopal, but their entry on the portal is done after the next two to three days. In fact, more than 200 data entry centers have been set up in every district, but there are only 59 data entry centers in the capital Bhopal. Not only this, where there are four sub-centres in Indore, all the work is done from only one center in the capital.
