Once again it has begun to rain heavily in Madhya Pradesh. Heavy downpour was recorded in Bhopal on Monday evening at around 5:45. It was cloudy in the evening and it started raining. Maximum 4 inches of rainfall recorded in Gwalior in the past 24 hours.
A major accident was averted in Indore on Sunday. Here, 13 luxury cars of people enjoying a picnic in Sukri River near Okhleshwar Dham got stuck in the flood. Police and villagers reached the spot and rescued four cars, but 5 cars drifted half a kilometre away, the work of extracting them continued till late night. The remaining 8 cars were pulled out late at night with the help of a tractor.
Due to heavy rainfall in Betul and Pachmarhi, 54,565 cusecs of water is being released by opening 7 out of 13 gates of Tawa Dam. Before 9 o’clock in the morning, 3 gates of the dam were opened for three feet, after which 4 more gates were opened. On the other hand, 7 people died in two days in the state due to lightning due to heavy rain. 4 people lost their lives in Vidisha and 3 in Satna. It also rained at isolated places in Bhopal, Betul, Indore, Damoh, Mandla, Sagar and Satna.
During the last 24 hours, Pachmarhi received 4 inches of rainfall, Sidhi received 2 inches, Betul 1.5 inches. Half-an-inch of water fell in Ratlam, Ujjain, Gwalior, Malajkhand, Satna, Indore and Naugaon, Datia, Narsinghpur, Khandwa, Jabalpur, Shivpuri, Khajuraho, Umaria, Sagar, Guna and Narmadapuram also received rainfall. Obedullaganj-Nagpur highway closed again: Obedullaganj-Nagpur National Highway-69 remained closed for one and a half hours due to flooding in Sukhtawa river. Water had spilled over highway at 8 in the morning. By 9:30 am the water had subsided. After this the traffic started here. The Sukhtawa River bridge was damaged a few months back. After this a temporary bridge was built here. Flood water comes on this bridge. The bridge has been closed for traffic 8 times this season.
Alert of heavy rainfall in Bhopal: According to the Meteorological Department, after two days there may be heavy rain in many areas of the State. There is an alert of heavy rain in Bhopal after 4 days and in Indore after 2 days. However, light to moderate rain will continue for now. Raisen and Sehore may receive good rain tomorrow. Heavy rain is likely in Umaria, Anuppur, Shahdol, Dindori, Katni, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Mandla and Seoni from Tuesday.
System become active again: At present, a cyclone is active over Central Rajasthan. The Western Disturbance (winds from Pakistan) remains in the form of a cyclone with a conjugated trough around Central Pakistan. The Monsoon Trough which brought rain is extending from Jaisalmer-Kota to East-central Bay of Bengal via Sagar-Pendra Road and Balasore. The cyclone is also active over the Middle East-central Arabian Sea. The cyclone is active in the Northwest Bay of Bengal, due to which a low pressure area has started forming.
