RAIPUR,
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is indulging in horse trading of MLAs in Jharkhand.
Talking to media persons at Swami Vivekananda Airport (SVA), Raipur on Wednesday morning before leaving for Himachal Pradesh, Bhupesh Baghel said that the Election Commission has sent its letter to Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais but the envelope is reported to have been not opened in the Raj Bhavan.
It indicates that something is cooking inside. In such a situation, the MLAs of the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) has been brought to Raipur for the safety of the MLAs. MLAs of the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition in Jharkhand on Tuesday reached Raipur to prevent the BJP’s alleged attempt to poach its legislators during the ongoing political crisis in the state. Chief Minister Baghel met the MLAs of Jharkhand at Mayfair Resort Nava Raipur in Atal Nagar on Tuesday night and even had dinner with them. State Congress Treasurer and State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Ramgopal Agrawal, State Mineral Development Corporation Chairman Girish Dewangan and Chairman of Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Sushil Sunny Agrawal welcomed the MLAs of Jharkhand at Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur. The BJP sought Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s disqualification for allegedly violating Section 9 (A) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, which deals with disqualification for government contracts, by extending himself a mining lease. Following a petition by the BJP seeking Soren’s disqualification from the Assembly in this office of profit case, the Election Commission sent its decision to state Governor Ramesh Bais on August 25. Though the Election Commission’s decision is not yet made official, there was a buzz that the poll panel has recommended the Chief Minister’s disqualification as an MLA. The ruling UPA coalition has 49 MLAs in the 81-member assembly. The JMM, the largest party, has 30 MLAs, the Congress 18, and the RJD has one MLA. The BJP has 26 MLAs in the House.
