The girls’ coach of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre in village Jetpura of Dhar district, Sharmila Tejawat has been suspended for making the girl players massage her hands and feet. The Regional Director of SAI, Bhopal, said that during this period her headquarters will remain in Bhopal.
Recently, a video went viral, in which the incharge and coach Sharmila was seen lying on the bed and the girl players were massaging her legs. After the video surfaced, a team of officials from SAI’s Regional Centre Bhopal reached the SAI Centre in Dhar district. The team discussed with the incharge and with the players. It’s report was sent to the higher authorities. Based on the report, the coach has been suspended. SAI Regional Director Satyajit Sankrit said that this action is being taken on the basis of the report received.
Four months old video: This whole matter is being told four months old, however, videos have surfaced recently. It is clearly visible in the video that SAI’s coach Sharmila Tejawat is lying down. The girls taking training there are pressing her hands and feet. The videos are from different days. At the SAI Centre in Dhar, 70 players undergo training in various sports disciplines. It consists of 50 boys and 20 girls.
Coach issues clarification: When the matter was raised before, Coach Sharmila Tejawat said that after taking charge of the centre in November, many good events have been organised. “There may be some conspiracy in this, I suffer from a foot disease. When the girls came to know about my well being, out of humanity, they massaged my feet. I have presented my case before the officers who came to investigate,” Sharmila added.
