Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had summoned the officers on Thursday morning in the case of alleged rape of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in a private school bus in Bhopal. In this, strict action was ordered against the culprits. Owing to the CM’s displeasure, the officers of the district administration, police, RTO and School Education Department woke up from slumber. After about six hours of the meeting, the teams began to take action and started doing all the checking related to the school buses. On Thursday, the police checked 762 school buses and vans throughout the day. In this, challans were issued to of 56 vehicles. Court will take action against three vehicles among them.
The checking of school buses began after 1 pm on Thursday. During this time children were returning to home. There was a long line of buses on Kolar Road. Similar scenes were also seen in Ratibad area.
DCP (Traffic) Hansraj Singh told ‘The Hitavada’ that joint teams of police, district administration, RTO and School Education are carrying out bus checking. During this, care is also being taken that the children do not face any kind of problem. Many drivers failed to talk about the recording of CCTV cameras in the buses.
The Collector has formed teams under the leadership of SDM. Action was started in Kolar under leadership of SDM Kshitij Sharma. Many buses were checked. Report will be submitted to the Collector. Police will take data of driver-conductor, caretaker of school buses: Police Commissioner Makrand Deuskar said that police will prepare afresh data of driver-conductor and caretaker of buses. They will be verified that there is no criminal record of any employee. The data has not been prepared for four-five years, he said. Guidelines for school buses: DCP Traffic Hansraj Singh said that according to guidelines, school buses should have necessary resources. Buses can be operated accordingly. n School Bus should be written in capital letters on front and back. If bus is rented, School Service Bus should be written on the front and back of buses. • Children should be accommodated in any bus used for school/college only as per preferred number. • Every bus must have a facility of first-aid box. • Windows of bus should be compulsorily fitted with crossbars. • Every bus should have fire extinguishers. • Name and telephone number of school should also be written on bus. • Space should be arranged under seats to keep children’s bags. • A teacher should be arranged should escort children. • Driver should have minimum 5 years experience of driving heavy vehicles.
