31 injured as bus falls into gorge near Hingna

AS MANY as 31 persons, mostly women, were injured, five of them seriously, after a private bus carrying them fell into a 25 ft gorge near Pendhri ghat on Hingni-Seloo Road in Hingna Police Station area Friday morning.
Most of the seriously injured women were from Trimurti Nagar Mahila Mandal. They were rushed to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Digdoh Hills, Nagpur.
The passengers were on their way to Bordharan in the adjoining Wardha district for a picnic in bus (MH-40/AT-0219) around 11 am. The driver, Lahu Raut lost control of his bus and the vehicle fell into the gorge injuring 31 persons. People from nearby villages and passersby rushed for their rescue. They pulled out the injured persons from the ill-fated bus and brought them to the roadside. Staff from Seloo Police Station visited the spot. Those, who suffered serious injuries, were rushed to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital in ambulances. Staff from Hingna Police Station too visited the spot and started the probe.
Speaking to ‘The Hitavada,’ a police officer said that an FIR was registered against the bus driver. “Some women suffered serious injuries but are out of danger,” he added.
