Cheetah to settle in the heart of country after 70 years

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a historic gift to the State and the country on Saturday. Prime Minister Modi will release cheetahs in the heart of the country, in the Kuno National Park of Madhya Pradesh at 10.30 am for resettlement after a long gap of 70 years. Prime Minister Modi will launch the world’s first transcontinental project to restore large wild carnivores Prime Minister Modi will plant saplings at the Karahal helipad site in the Green Madhya Pradesh campaign at 11.40 am. Prime Minister Modi will address a conference of women self-help groups at Model School Ground, Karahal, in Sheopur district at 12 noon. Prime Minister Modi, will e-dedicate the Special Backward Tribes Group Skill Development Training Centres at Shivpuri, Mandla, Shahdol and Tamia.
Cheetah got extinct in India in 1952: Declared extinct in India since 1952, the ‘Cheetah’ is going to be reinstated in the year 2022. Earlier, international cheetah experts held a discussion with the central and state governments for restoration of the cheetah. It is a matter of pride for the State that the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) has found the Kuno National Park to be the most suitable among the selected 10 places in the country in the survey of possible areas for cheetah restoration in India. It is historical that this work is being started by Prime Minister Modi. Prime Minister Modi will release the cheetahs in two enclosures. Two male cheetahs will be released in the first enclosure. A female cheetah will be released into the second enclosure. A team of Forest Department officials has received training in Namibian Cheetah Management Techniques. The integrated management of the project envisages the habitat of about two dozen cheetahs in 750 square kilometres of the Kuno National Park. Apart from this, about 3,000 square kilometre forest area is suitable for free movement of cheetahs in two districts Sheopur and Shivpuri.
Conference of women of Self Help Groups: Prime Minister Modi will e-dedicate the Special Backward Tribal Groups Skill Development Training Centres of Shivpuri, Mandla, Shahdol and Tamia at a conference of women self-help groups at Karahal in Sheopur district.
Prime Minister Modi will interact with the women of self-help groups and seek information about entrepreneurship. As many as 3.86 lakh self-help groups are working in the State Rural Livelihood Mission MP for women empowerment and orientation in the state. More than 43 lakh families are associated with these groups. Work related to vegetable production, milk production, incense sticks, handwash, soap manufacturing, agriculture and animal husbandry based livelihood activities and operation of Aajeevika Poshan Vatika are being done by the groups. Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Civil Aviation and Steel Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development Faggan Singh Kulaste, State Forest Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Mahendra Singh Sisodia, Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Castes Welfare Minister Meena Singh, Minister of State for Horticulture and Food Processing (Independent Charge) and Narmada Valley Development Bharat Singh Kushwaha, Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development Ramkhelawan Patel and Khajuraho MP VD Sharma will be present in the programme of PM Modi.
