In the case of rape with a three-and-a-half-year-old girl studying in Billabong School, an FIR (First Information Reports) has been lodged against four, including the Chairman, two Directors and Principal of the school, for hiding the facts at their level and giving a clean chit to the accused school bus driver and female caretaker (Didi).
In the inquiry done against the School Chairman, Transport Operator and Principal Ashish Agarwal, they were asked on what basis they gave a clean chit to the bus driver and the caretaker. Even after the clear guideline of the Supreme Court, an attempt was made to hide the whole matter from the police. When the police did not get a satisfactory answer, a case was registered against them under The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Under the direction of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Shrutkirti Somvanshi, the SIT of the Police Department reached the school premises and started an investigation. The investigation team recorded statements of more than 50 school employees. After that, the Chairman of Billabong School, Director Najm Jamal, and Transport Operator Faizal were booked.
Flouting of SC’s guidelines: Police investigation has revealed that the Supreme Court’s guideline on the POCSO Act was being openly flouted in the school. The SIT noticed that the verification of the bus driver was being done only on paper.
Earlier, Police Commissioner Makrand Deuskar had constituted the SIT comprising Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Shrutkirti Somvanshi, ACP Nidhi Saxena, Mahila Police Station Incharge Anjana Dhurve and Sub Inspector Karishma Rajawat to investigate the matter. The police claim that within 10 days, the challan will be presented in the court after thorough investigation in this matter. All the equipment kept in the server room of the school premises was confiscated. CCTV cameras of all school vehicles were checked.
The school management has more than a dozen vehicles, through which the work is done to transport the children from all over the city. School bus driver was beaten up by prisoners: The court issued directions to send the bus drivers Hanumant Jatav and caretaker (Didi) Urmila Sahu to jail. When both reached inside the jail, Urmila was sent to the women’s jail. When Hanumant Jatav reached the jail, he was thrashed fiercely by inmates. He was beaten up while changing clothes by the prisoners serving life sentences.
“After receiving the information in the case of rape with the girl in the school bus, a case has been registered against the school management for not informing the police and in violation of the Supreme Court’s guidelines under the POCSO Act, ” said Commissioner of Police Makrand Deuskar.
