‘Everybody plays important role in varsity’s development’

Everyone plays a stellar role in the development of varsity, be it students or the staff, each one’s co-operation is required as the institution is built step-by-step, said Prof Ramkrushnamacharyulu, eminent Sanskrit scholar. He was speaking as the chief guest at the valedictory programme of silver jubilee celebrations of Kavi Kulguru Sanskrit University, on Sunday at Ramtek.
‘Sanskrit Jeevanavrati’ awards were distributed to scholars on the occasion at university's Varnekar auditorium. Vice-Chancellor Prof Madhsudan Penna presided over the programme. Former Vice-Chancellor Prof Pankaj Chande, senior Sanskrit scholar Prof P C Muralimadhavan, Maharishi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University Vice-Chancellor Prof Vijayakumar C G were the guests of honour.
Member of Parliament (MP) Krupal Tumane, MLA Ashish Jaiswal, MLC Abhijit Wanjari, Prof Nanda Puri, Dean, Faculty of Sanskrit and Non-Sanskrit Literature, Dr Ramchandra Joshi, Registrar, were also present on the dais.
At the outset, Prof Puri made introductory address narrating the achievement of varsity since its establishment.
Prof Chande appreciated that varsity was on way to financial independence and laid stress on inter-disciplinary course with a focus on the future. Sanskrit courses should also be introduced for international students in English for wider reach.
On the occasion, messages of Chancellor and Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil were read out. Former Chief Justice of India Sharad Bobde also conveyed his best wishes to varsity.
MP Krupal Tumane promised to extend all possible help from the Centre for the development of varsity.
The ‘Mahakavi Kalidas Sanskrit-Vrati’ National Awards were presented to Prof S R Leela, Bengaluru (Sanskrit Theatre, Film and Short Films), Prof K V Ramkrushnamacharyulu, Prof P C Murlimadhavan, Tirupati, Prof P C Murali Madhavan, Prof K Ram Subramanian, Prof Balram Shukla, Dr Venkateswara Pai.
Speaking further, Prof Ramkrushnamacharyulu said varsity has crossed many peaks of success and congratulated each and everybody associated in whatever form during its 25-years of journey.
In his address, Prof Madhusudan Penna acknowledged the significant contribution of his predecessor that helped the KKSU to achievement a status of national importance. He also said that contribution of youth is equally important. The university will gradually expand at the international level as well in near future.
