C’garh Congress passes resolution to appoint Rahul as Congress Chief

Chhattisgarh Congress on Sunday passed a resolution to make Rahul Gandhi National President of the Congress party. The resolution was unanimously passed in the meeting of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) delegates held at State Congress party office Rajiv Bhawan in Raipur.
Talking to media persons at Rajiv Bhawan after the meeting, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, “I moved the resolution to appoint Rahul Gandhi as Congress National President. State Congress Chief Mohan Markam, senior Congress leader Dr Charan Das Mahant, Cabinet Ministers T S Singhdeo, Dr Shivkumar Dahariya and Dr Premsai Singh Tekam supported the resolution. It was passed unanimously in the meeting.”
State Congress President Mohan Markam moved another proposal to authorize the Congress National President to appoint the office-bearers of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress like State Congress President, Vice President, Treasurer, Executive Members, State Election Committee and AICC members of the State. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, senior Congress leader Dr Charan Das Mahant and cabinet minister Dr Shivkumar Dahariya supported the resolution. Both resolutions were unanimously passed in the meeting. Both the proposals will be sent to Congress Central Election Authority Chairman Madhusudan Mistry, he added. On a query about Rahul Gandhi’s assertion that he will not hold the post of the Congress National President, Baghel said, “Chhattisgarh Congress and Rajasthan Congress have passed the resolution to appoint Rahul Gandhi as the Congress Chief. The proposal has been passed in two states, but if this proposal comes from other states too, then Rahul Ji should rethink on this matter. Rahulji should take into consideration the sentiments of party workers.” Election Officer for Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Husain Dalwai, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, State Congress In-charge P L Punia, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary for Chhattisgarh Dr Chandan Yadav, State Congress Chief Mohan Markam, senior Congress leaders Dr Charan Das Mahant, T S Singhdeo, Mohammad Akbar, Dr Shivkumar Dahariya, Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Kawasi Lakhma and newly elected PCC delegates attended the meeting.
