Earlier, it was planned to start the redemption of tickets on September 22 but to avoid heavy rush, VCA officials decided to start it early. The redemption of tickets at VCA Civil Lines will continue till Thursday while on match day, it will be held near VCA’s Jamtha Stadium.
The India-Australia T20 will be played under the newly-installed LED floodlights, which offer better visibility to players on the ground and also a seamless viewing experience to the television audience. VCA’s Jamtha Stadium, which can accommodate 44,000-odd spectators, will be hosting an international T20 match after almost three years.
On match day, the stadium gates will be opened at 3.30 pm.
The staff of Paytm would be manning the gate/bay entry through turnstiles at bay level. After the scanning of barcode at turnstile, ticket holders will get access to the stands. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team and Aaron Finch skippered Australian squad would be arriving in Nagpur on September 21 by a chartered flight and will have a practice session each on September 22. The Australian team will practice from 1 pm to 4 pm while India will be practising from 5 pm to 8 pm under floodlights at the stadium. Meanwhile, seasoned Umesh Yadav was on Sunday drafted into the Indian team as seamer Mohammed Shami’s replacement for the three-match T20I series.
Shami was ruled out of the rubber, starting on Tuesday, late on Saturday night after he had tested positive for COVID-19. Umesh has recently recovered from a quadriceps injury he suffered during his county stint in England.
Umesh had a terrific first leg in the 2022 IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders when he swung the ball at great pace.
