Why couldn’t Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) expand its base in Vidarbha, asked Founder President Raj Thackeray to the party workers and office-bearers. He is in Nagpur to interact with party workers to know various issues. He convened meetings at Ravi Bhavan for the whole day on Sunday, during which he asked the above question.
Raj Thackeray arrived by Vidarbha Express on Sunday morning. Responding to appeal made by State General Secretary of MNS Hemant Gadkari, the workers, office-bearers gathered at Railway Station and gave a rousing welcome to him.
Raj Thackeray reached Ravi Bhavan where he addressed meetings of party members, office-bearers of 8 State Assembly constituencies of Nagpur district-- urban and rural. Thackeray interacted with them and listened to their issues. Thackeray asked the gathering as to why couldn’t the party expand its base in Vidarbha? Members, office-bearers pointed out, they tried their best but certain things at party level, too, did not take place. According to most of them, Raj Thackeray should have visited frequently. He did come three years ago in Nagpur. The gap is too long, party workers felt.
A worker on condition of anonymity told ‘The Hitavada’, “Rajsaheb should have made aggresive visits to Vidarbha that could have created positive atmosphere for party. MNS office-bearers like Sandip Deshpande, Bala Nandgaonkar too should have toured Vidarbha which did not happen. MNS has been launching andolans, demonstrations against authorities to support people in this part of State. We want higher ups to see our work, pat on our backs and see the difference.”
Workers, office-bearers discussed various issues. Raj Thackeray asked members to come forward and take efforts to strengthen the party. He made it clear that MNS would go all alone in civic polls. He asked party workers to give tough fights to other parties in civic polls and bring back the glorious days.
