Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Madhya Pradesh tops the country by registering more than 30 lakh beneficiaries, distributing amount of Rs 1,294 crore and benefitting 2,26,306 beneficiaries till August in the current financial year under the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. CM Chouhan has congratulated the Women and Child Development Department for the successful implementation of the scheme. Madhya Pradesh is at the first place at the national level for the year 2021-22 in this scheme for the fourth consecutive year. CM Chouhan said that the Women and Child Development Department should convey the message of these works to the public by branding the innovations and achievements.
Chouhan said that just as a call has been given to plant saplings on birthdays and marriage anniversaries, in the same way, citizens can do the work of distribution of sweets and having meals with children by visiting Anganwadi centres. Efforts should also be made by the department for this.
During the review of ‘Adopt an Anganwadi’ in the meeting, it was informed that on the initiative of CM Chouhan, public co-operation of 25 crores has been received for Anganwadi centres in the state including toys, other materials. Initiatives have been taken for infrastructure works. For Anganwadi centres, outdoor sports material, swings and slides etc. have been supplied. More than one and a half thousand centres have been upgraded as Adarsh Anganwadi centres. Footwear and hygiene kits have also been supplied for the children.
Chouhan said that under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, an amount of Rs 5,000 to the eligible pregnant women and lactating mothers for the first delivery and Rs 6,000 to the mothers of the infant on the birth of a girl child during the second delivery has been provided on priority. The approval of about 80 lakh applications in the scheme is an achievement. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh is at the forefront of the country in efforts to reduce malnutrition of underweight children.
Madhya Pradesh is also ahead in improving nutritional status: Chief Minister Chouhan expressed happiness over the successes being achieved in the field of nutrition with public co-operation and congratulated the Women and Child Development Department for its good efforts. In Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, 30 lakh children in the age group of 6 months to three years have taken advantage of supplementary nutritional food in the state. Similarly, 10.81 lakh pregnant and lactating mothers have also been benefitted. More than 38 lakh beneficiaries have taken the benefit of take home ration in the state.
At present, Aadhaar verification of 71.20 lakh beneficiaries has also been completed on the nutrition tracker. The work of production of take home ration is being done from 13 plants in the state. Breakfast and hot cooked meals are being served by more than 50,000 Sanjha Chulha (common kitchen) groups in rural areas. In urban areas also more than 2,000 groups are doing this work. In Mandla and Dindori districts, coarse grains are being given once a week. Arrangements have been made to supply Kodo-Kutki based breakfast in these districts. In Anganwadi centres, tasty dishes have been prepared from the grains obtained from Poshan Matka and made available to the children in the form of nutrition corners.
Nutrition corners have been established in more than 85,000 Anganwadi centres of the State. In addition, nutrition gardens have also been created.
Efforts to solve the problem of malnutrition are being successful: Madhya Pradesh is one of the states doing the best work in the country in the direction of eradicating malnutrition of underweight children, saving children from symptoms like thinness and stunting. Where in the case of providing assistance to underweight children, the state ranks second in the national ranking, it is third in resolving the problem of underweight due to thinness and sixth in the national ranking in terms of solving health problems due to stunting. Chief Minister Chouhan congratulated the department for progress in this area. While there has been a decline of 3.7 per cent in the number of underweight children in the country, the state has recorded the highest decline of 9.8 per cent. Similarly, the problem of malnutrition due to thinness has been reduced by 1.7 per cent in the country, while in Madhya Pradesh success has been achieved in reducing it by 6.8 per cent. In cases of stunting, success has been achieved in bringing it down 6.3 per cent in Madhya Pradesh as against 3 per cent reduction in the country.
Ladli Laxmi Yojana Major Achievement of the State: Chief Minister Chouhan said that under Ladli Laxmi Yojna, a roadmap should be prepared to form a club and a city-wise meetings of Ladlis. This scheme is established as a major achievement of Madhya Pradesh government. Various activities should be
conducted in the plan. Giving information about the implementation of Ladli Laxmi Yojana in the meeting, it was informed that so far 43 lakh girls have got benefit under the scheme. Total 4,87,731 girls of classes 6, 9, 11 and 12 have got scholarship amount under Ladli Laxmi Yojana 2.0. App has been started for continuous communication with Ladlis. Review of other plans: The Chief Minister also received information about the implementation of other schemes of the department. He said that the girls and women associated with the State Government’s scheme Shaurya Dal have been made the strength of the society. These sisters should be used constructively in the interest of society. Chief Minister Chouhan said that gender budgeting should also be analysed. Discussions on Chief Minister Nari Samman Kosh, Mission Shakti, Mission Vatsalya, Street Children Welfare, State’s Child Protection Policy, Non Institutional Rehabilitation and Private Sponsorship, PM Cares Scheme for Children, Mukhyamantri COVID-19 Bal Seva Yojana and Mukhyamantri Udyami Shakti Yojana were also held. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Women and Child Development Ashok Shah and other officers were present in the meeting held at CM’s residence.
